When people first start cycling, it can be overwhelming. There’s so much to learn ranging from bike mechanics to cycling technique. And, this is before plucking up the courage to ride in a club which has a seemingly alien subculture. We want to change this and show that cycling is for all.
At Cycle Together, we get more people from communities marginalised in sport, cycling in their local groups. We strive to be the most trusted and transparent place for today’s cyclist to research cycling clubs and groups. Our platform provides a safe, supportive environment for people to be inspired by seeing themselves in sport as well as opportunities to learn about all things cycling-related.
Our suite of products are aimed at reducing barriers to entry and championing the diversity within cycling. In addition, we help cycling groups build generous, inclusive communities of cyclists that are accessible to everybody.
Led by established industry voices, our carefully curated resources share how patience and curiosity are the most important tools you need when fixing your bike, learning to corner or planning your next adventure. These life skills extend beyond the value of the articles, toolkits and videos and rewire people’s attitudes from being fearful of mechanicals and taking part in group sports to feeling empowered and confident to ride with their local group as well as cycle further, and for longer.
Cycle Together was founded by Biola Babawale, chair of trailblazing London cycling club, Velociposse. Highly aware of the hurdles many people wanting to join cycling clubs face, Biola worked hard alongside the wider Velociposse committee to reduce barriers within her club. The result is a club that is more accessible for women, trans and non-binary people of colour, and as disability-friendly as possible, and still constantly challenging itself to improve.
Cycle Together was created off the back of these processes to help achieve the same goal: helping more people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures to get cycling in their local clubs and groups.
