We are a cycling club based in Ashford, Kent in the south of England, the Kent arm of Club Grappa based in London. What we do: We ride most weekends across the south east of Kent. We have a ladies ride most Saturday mornings and a club ride on Sunday mornings.
In the summer months we meet at Stag coffee shop in Ashford High St at 8am for a pre ride coffee and set off at 8.30. In the winter months its 8.30 at Stag with a set off of 9am. We have members that race Cyclo Cross, Road and TTs but have our roots firmly in our friendly social rides.
Why the name Grappa?
A cold Spring day.
Our bones, chilled by the climb to the café at the top of the Cipressa were warmed by double espresso and dark Grappa chasers.
‘You know, we should start some sort of club and do more of this’
‘Yeah, let’s do that…what should we call it? I take a sip of the Grappa and wince, just as I had on the climb.
‘Club Grappa.’
