We pride ourselves on being Oxford’s friendliest cycling club, and are working hard to support women’s cycling, aiming for 50% female membership. We run regular club rides on Tuesdays and Thursdays with our members typically riding across the whole weekend too – usually departing from Beeline Bikes, Cowley Road. Week-night rides are usually divided into social, medium and fast paced groups. The social rides are a great opportunity to build up the miles at a relaxed pace, whereas the fast rides and Thursday night chain gangs are a real challenge to even the strongest riders.
Members are active in the local road racing and scene, with both our men and women teams achieving great success in the Oxfordshire Road Race League and beyond. The club has a strong involvement in further cycling disciplines, including hosting monthly time-trials in the Spring and Summer, and partaking in cyclo-cross throughout the year, with the majority of competitive action taking place in the Winter months. The club was successful in running its first cyclo-cross race in December 2019 and it’s first Audax this summer (June 2022).
Because we were all beginners once, the club is incredibly supportive of new members. And friendliness is an ethos that runs right through the club, which encompasses a wide variety of abilities, from those just getting into cycling following an ‘exercise hiatus’, right through to competitive racers and those getting in 5,000+ miles per year.
