The Club is involved in all forms of cycling from touring, to racing, to social rides and members regularly go away on cycling holidays both at home and abroad.
We also compete in all forms of racing, from road racing, time trialling, track racing, grass track racing, cyclo cross, mountain bikes, and roller racing.
We have a social evening from 8:30 pm at the Scout Hall, Lone Pine Lodge, 307 Carter Drive, Collier Row, Romford, Essex RM5 2TU every other Wednesday from 8:30 pm (once a month during the summer as we meet every Tuesday for the evening 10 mile series). Activities include pool, darts and table tennis; refreshments are available at a small cost.
The Club has a country headquarters (‘the Hut’) at Ugley near Stansted Mountfitchett. This is a bungalow with beds and cooking facilities (and refreshments such as tea and coffee) for those who wish to stay overnight and is primarily used by those wishing to race on the courses in the area. It is also used by the club as the race HQ when promoting its own events in the area. This facility is free to club members.
The Club promotes a number of races each season. These include an open hilly 25 mile time trial and a 68 mile road race (as part of our commitment to the Essex Road Race League). We hold a number of club only events during the year including a series of 10 mile time trials in the summer. The club is also a member of the 32nd Association who promote a series of ‘combined’ club events during the year.
Club runs (touring rides) are arranged during the winter and on an ad-hoc basis during the summer. The meeting place is at Sabines Road, Navestock Heath on Sundays at 09:30 am.
