Founded in 2014, Histon & Impington Bicycle Club (HIBC) prides itself on being a friendly and inclusive cycling club based in Histon & Impington, Cambridge. We are open to novices and seasoned cyclists, and offer various road rides for a range of abilities.
As the mainstay of any road club, Sunday club rides run throughout the year. These rides are at different speeds and distances, depending on numbers. In the summer, we run evening mid-week fast training rides. Cyclists from other Cambridge cycling clubs, on becoming HIBC members, are welcome to join these rides.
There are slower and shorter rides for those new to club cycling in the summer months. In 2020 we started to offer women-only rides; as lockdown restrictions allow, we plan to run them again in 2022. Have a look at our rides page for more information.
We run occasional time-trials on a local course for members, and in 2021, will offer an autumn hill climb. A few members take part in road and criterium racing at local events; a few others have picked up the gravel bug and are exploring local trails and racing cyclo-cross.
In April we organise a cycling holiday/training camp (delete as appropriate!) in Majorca or Tenerife. In June and September, we run relaxed cycle tours in the UK, riding on and off-road between youth hostels or camp sites. But we’re not all about riding: a number of social events each year complete our schedule.
In partnership with Friends of Histon & Impington Community, we help to organise an annual cycling event and sportive, known as ‘The Strawberry Community Cycle Event’. This is a fun community cycle ride for all ages with a choice of routes.
