About the club

Overview

Peak Gravel Gang is a women-led, fun, friendly, off-road cycling group. We’re all about social riding, getting to know each other and challenging ourselves in a relaxed and supportive environment.

We aim to do at least two weekend rides per month, if not more, as well as the occasional night ride. We always ride at party pace and never leave anyone behind. And it goes without saying that we always have a café stop.

We’re particularly passionate about creating a safe space for women, non-binary and LBTQ+ folk, so if you’re wondering if this group is for you, then it is!

Our weekend rides start at various locations in and around the Peak District to give as many people as possible the opportunity to come to our rides. We also aim to start/finish near public transport links and/or car parks so it’s easy to join us if you’re a little further afield.

Our routes vary in length from 10 to 35 km and some are hillier than others, so (as we’re never in a rush to get round and we love to have a chat at the cafe) we’d recommend setting aside a good 2-3 hours to join us.

Our night rides are based out of Alpkit, Hathersage and start at 6:30 p.m. We usually ride about 20 km and all the same riding rules apply! We stick together, stop when we need to and enjoy the ride at a pace that suits the whole group. When the weather’s good enough, we’ll hang out at the end of the ride and have a natter and a drink.

In short – we’ll provide the scenic routes, friendly ride leaders, answers to any questions and even a bike if need be. All we ask is that you come along and give it a go!

What the club/group does well

A really inclusive and chilled out group. Everyone encouraged me (but didn't pressure me) to ride a trail I want sure about. What a lovely group!

What the club/group does well

I've only been out with the club once before moving away from Sheffield but it was a great experience. Everyone was really friendly and the leaders made sure that the pace was appropriate for the whole group.

What the club/group could do better

Nothing, it was fab

What the club/group does well

Inclusive, growing & compassionate group with women+ at the forefront!

What the club/group could do better

More push on the whole marginalised side of things, but that’s definitely in action.
