Sheppey Velo is a growing club based on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent but with members all over the South of England.
Set up by a small group of local riders, and sponsored by local companies we have grown from humble origins, a group of friends and cycling enthusiasts to now 50+ riders and over 100 members on our Facebook page!
We welcome new riders almost weekly, and have provision for multiple levels of cycling ability from beginners to categorised racers and time trial riders, for both male and female cyclists too. For new members the first five rides are free but after that we ask you join the Sheppey Velo at a small fee of £10 per year. We also strongly recommend you have personal liability insurance through British cycling membership at at least “Ride” level cover.
Club meets are every Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays.
(Depending on weather conditions and season, other days often feature events too.)
Weekday rides are approx 25-30 miles and range from 14 to 21 Mph average speeds.
Weekend rides are normally longer from 50 + miles with similar average speeds.
We provide for all abilities and always have experienced club members accompanying newer riders in the not so fast groups and ensure no one gets left behind (we have a strict no drop rule.)
