Review

The Boardman SLR 8.9 is a beautiful bike, a reinvention of the Team Carbon – previously ridden to Olympic glory in 2008. Maintaining its original character the frame has had an overhaul in design and material.

The frame is built with aerodynamics in mind and a lightweight feel to it, while not compromising on performance, it also has tyre clearance up to 28mm.

Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Effective rim brakes
  • Carbon frame and fork
  • Good value for mone

Cons

  • Lower end equipment
  • Narrow tyre clearance
  • At the heavier end of carbon road bikes

Verdict

This bike is a sleek and expensive looking bike, great value for money and can be set-up as a race bike or endurance bike, with its comfortable geometry. It’s performance is competitive to the market and the 11-speed Shimano 105 has improved the bike notably since its upgrade.
